Regulatory Track Records

Pokerstars had multiple run-ins with regulators over the years. In 2019, the bookie was fined €400,000 ($461,300) by the Netherlands’ gambling commission, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA). PokerStars was found to offer its services to Dutch residents despite not having a local license. In 2025, it received a SEK 7 million ($730,800) fine from the Swedish Gambling Authority (Spelinspektionen) for breaching anti-money laundering.

There is no public information available on how PokerStars reacted to these fines. However, it appears that the bookmaker accepted them. It still operates in Sweden and is currently working on obtaining a local license in the Netherlands.

Odds

PokerStars posts odds for high-profile matches several weeks before kick-off. For example, the bookie made odds available for a match between Manchester United and Everton more than 20 days before the game was scheduled to start. Usually, you’ll be able to find prices for two upcoming gamedays for the top football leagues. The outrights for league and tournament winners across popular sports are available as soon as the previous season or edition ends.

The sportsbook offers three odds formats: decimal, fractional, and American. There is no quick toggle to change between formats. You can click on the settings icon on any page and make the switch. The prices are displayed to two decimals, and the bookie provides a real-time odds-change indicator. The odds box shortly turns blue when they change.

Currently, only poker and casino players can take advantage of this type of offer using a promo code specified on the website. For the casino, there is a 100% bonus as well, with the amount ranging from £20 or £50 for the UK to $1,500 for Canada.

There are only two regular promotions for sports at PokerStars at the moment: Star Sub and 2 Up. For the first one, all the player prop bets will win if either the original player or his substitution fulfills the conditions of the wager. For example, you place a bet that Vinicius Junior will score a goal for Real Madrid, but he gets substituted by Rodrygo before finding the net. If Rodrygo ends up scoring a goal, you still win the bet. The 2 Up promotion will see your bet win if your selected team manages to get a two-goal lead at any point of the game.

PokerStars Sports website has a simplistic appearance. There are not too many options to choose from, but the navigation can still be challenging.

The sports menu only allows you to pick out a sport, at which point you are presented with featured events. In order to access a particular league, you need to click on the “Competitions” tab and select it from the list. The thing that will make your life easier is the predictive search for competitions and teams.

One thing that we didn’t like about the PokerStars website from the start was the central console with events and odds. It is too narrow due to a larger stationary bet slip on the right. Also, you are always presented with popular accumulators and popular bet builders before any events, which means a lot of scrolling. Also, there is no option to add competitions or teams to favorites.

The ability to use date and bet type filters for events is pretty useful. When you click on the “Matches” tab for a particular sport, you can choose to see the upcoming matches in the next 3, 6, 12, 24, or 48 hours. The bet type filters include “Match Results,” “Match Odds – 2 Up,” “Match Odds 90,” “Both Teams to Score,” “Over/Under 2.5 Goals,” and “Double Chance.”

The website doesn’t have dark/light theme switching and doesn’t support notifications for bet results. You also won’t find social features like community bets or a leaderboard, or betting tools like an odds calculator and stat databases.

Mobile Betting

PokerStars offers mobile betting through a mobile web app, iOS app, and Android app. Here is what you can expect from each available option.

Mobile Web App

The mobile web app is the condensed version of the desktop website. The interface is almost identical. The difference is that you will have a new toolbar for quick access to popular sports, which makes navigation a lot easier. The central console with events and odds now takes up the entire screen. The search tool is placed in the header, and you can access it at any point.

Betslip shows up in the minimized version when you click on the odds. It shows how many selections you made and the total odds. When you click on it, it opens up across the entire screen. It’s the same case when you click on the accounts menu.

The bookmaker’s mobile web app works well. It is fast and doesn’t glitch. If you accidentally click “back” or close the tab, your selections on the betslip will remain saved.

iOS App

The PokerStars iOS app can be downloaded from the App Store. It is slightly faster than the mobile web app, and there is a cool animation that greets you when you open it. Besides that, there are a few differences.

You’ll encounter the same interface with the addition of the bottom navigation bar. Here, you have shortcuts to sports, casino, and poker sections alongside Promotions & Rewards and Account shortcuts.

There are also added security functions. You can enable biometric login and set up a PIN or RSA Security Token.

Android App
