Luke Humphries is currently the top-ranked player in the PDC Order of Merit, with over £1,893,750 in prize money from ranking tournaments in the last two years and over £2.75 million in total.

He won the 2024 PDC World Darts Championship, defeating Luke Littler 7-4 in the final and securing the £500,000 prize. He also earned over £740,000 in prize money for winning major tournaments like the 2024 World Matchplay, the 2023 World Grand Prix, and the Grand Slam of Darts.

In total, he has won 21 PDC titles, but he also has profitable side-gigs, such as exhibition matches that generate around £10,000 per event.

He is also sponsored by Red Dragon Darts, using their 21g signature darts tailored to his playing style. However, the financial details of this deal are not made public. Humphries claims to have paid over 35% of his total darts career earnings in taxes. Management fees also take a chunk of his income.

Michael van Gerwen

Michael van Gerwen is one of the richest darts players of all time, with career earnings surpassing £15 million. He won the PDC World Championship three times, the Premier League Darts title seven times, and the World Grand Prix six times. He is currently the No.3 ranked player in the PDC Order of Merit.

Popularly known as “Bully Boy,” Michael Smith is another top player who has made substantial earnings of over £4 million throughout his professional darts career. The winner of 27 PDC titles is currently ranked at the 20th position of the PDA Order of Merit, and he earned over £390,750 between 2023 and 2025.

Nathan Aspinall

Currently ranked No. 9 in the PDC Order of Merit, Nathan Aspinall is one of the only two players to have secured titles across all five of the PDC’s top circuits. These include the PDC major, the Players Championship, the Development Tour, the World Series, and the Challenge Tour.

Beyond the average darts player’s net worth, Price also has some business investments through which he makes extra income. He reportedly owns a fish and chip shop in his hometown of Markham, South Wales.

Rob Cross

Rob Cross is currently ranked No. 5 in the PDC Order of Merit. The 34-year-old English professional has clinched over 20 PDC titles, including the prestigious 2018 PDC World Championship, which he famously won against the legendary Phil Taylor as a debut-year professional. That title alone brought him a wealth of around £500,000.

Other major titles he’s claimed include the 2019 World Matchplay Championship (£150,000) and the European Championship titles in 2019 and 2021 (£120,000 each). He has also finished as runner-up on several occasions, twice in the European Championship (£60,000 each) and once in the Premier League (£125,000).

John Lowe

Popularly known as Old Stoneface, John Lowe is a former professional darts player who officially retired in 2008. Lowe started playing darts professionally in 1966 and won 15 major titles across BDO and WDF events.

He is among the few players to win the BDO World Championship in three different decades: 1979, 1987, and 1993. He also held the World No. 1 ranking on four occasions and was a founding member of the PDC. Even more importantly, he’s the biggest reason why darts gained global traction as a sport, and he helped build the reputation that the sport holds to this day by boosting the television appeal of darts tournaments.

Lowe reportedly earned £395,889 in prize money over the course of his career. He has one of the longest-running sponsorship deals in sports, a 40-year partnership with Unicorn Darts.

Peter Wright

Peter Wright is one of the greatest players in the sport’s history. Wright began his professional darts career in 1995, and about 30 years later, he has 44 PDC titles to his name. The 65-year-old Englishman, who goes by the name Crazy Porter, has won a staggering 214 professional tournaments. This includes 16 record world championships (2 BDOs and 14 PDCs), 16 PDC World Matchplay titles, 11 PDC World Grand Prix titles, 6 PDC Premier League titles, 4 European Championships, and many more.

According to reports, Phil Taylor has amassed around £8.5 million in prize money, although many of his tournament and exhibition earnings are not accounted for. He retired from professional darts in 2024 after facing a persistent hip injury, which led him to withdraw from the 2024 World Masters.

Before that, he competed in the 2022 and 2023 World Seniors Darts Championship, reaching the quarter-final rounds. Even so, it’s estimated that his total earnings from titles and sponsorship deals might exceed £20 million, which sets the bar high even for the new generation of players.

Scott Williams
